Community Meeting #1
December 07, 2024
The first meeting kicked off the initiative, with over 60 community members participating in visioning breakout sessions. During these sessions, attendees discussed housing solutions, commercial development, community services, public gathering spaces, and green spaces. They also completed an anonymous survey to provide additional insights. Adaapta led an educational segment explaining what a brownfield was and the potential for redevelopment, setting the stage for deeper community involvement in the project’s subsequent phases.
Community Meeting #2
Feburary 16, 2025
The second meeting focused on presenting the refined site design based on the feedback from Meeting 1. During this session, community members had the opportunity to provide further feedback and make adjustments to the design. The goal was to begin finalizing the layout of the site and ensure it met community expectations for both residential and commercial development.
Community Meeting #3
April 5, 2025
The third and final meeting presented the community’s feedback, which was incorporated into the finalized site plan. HLB provided a detailed overview of the proposed development, allowing the community to review and approve the final vision for the site. This session solidified the plan for the future development of 7811 Harrisburg.
What Come Next:
After the community meetings, the following steps were taken to advance the project:

Pursuing Funding Support for Affordability:
HLB will seek funding support to ensure the site's affordability, exploring opportunities to secure financial backing from federal, state, and local sources. This funding will be crucial in maintaining affordable housing options on the site and supporting the project's long-term success.

RFP Writing and Issuance:
HLB will prepare and issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify a qualified development partner. This process will include reviewing the market feasibility study and aligning with the Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) and the Councilmember’s office for necessary approvals.
Procurement and Board Approval:
Following the RFP issuance, HLB will open a procurement window to review the proposals. The selected partner will be presented to the HLB Board for final approval.
Groundbreaking and Community Introduction:
By early 2026, the project aims to move into the groundbreaking phase, officially marking the start of redevelopment at 7811 Harrisburg. A "meet and greet" event will be held to introduce the development partner to the community, reinforcing the collaborative nature of the project and fostering ongoing engagement with the residents.
The 7811 Harrisburg Revitalization Initiative represented a commitment to inclusive, sustainable development, ensuring that the Magnolia Park community played a vital role in shaping the future of their neighborhood.
